Simplicity in the Layout

I was really quite impressed by the simple but functional simplicity of the layout but I still felt like much could still be done to make the interface more catchy.

Money back guarantee, awesome!

I always wanted to know if I could get a refund should I find the services below par and the response I received asured me so with a Money a 30-day-money back guarantee. Although, I never got to request for a refund, I believe this option resonates well with most people.

No Kill Switch

Absolute Turn-off!I am still surprised that some VPN vendors are still operating without a kill switch. Almost everything else about Hide My IP was great until I got to learn that there was no kill switch. I cancelled my subsequent subscription immediately.

Decent Speeds

Although my server speed wasn't as fast as before, I still found the speeds to be reasonably high compared to the previous VPN I had used. I also realized that the speed is not steady but rather depends on the location and time of day among other factors.

Hide My IP Review

Maybe I'm just a sucker for presentation, but the way a website is put together really says a lot about the people I am dealing with. It's like going into the perfect bar. Not too grungy. Not too pretentious. Just perfect and, most importantly, seamlessly functional. That's not to say I wouldn't enjoy the charm of a backwoods barn that serves moonshine, but the product and the atmosphere, even in that context, go together. I feel quite warm in the belly with Hide My IP's website. Here it is.

Is My Privacy Protected with Hide My IP VPN?

The first thing that must be stated about privacy is the location, or corporate headquarters of Hide My IP. Unfortunately, for all privacy loving people, it's in the United States, a country that has become the epicenter of data forfeiture and seizure, which, if C-SPAN is any indication, has become a national past time (Please note the date of this review for proper context. If you still don't get it, Google News+the date. You see? The US Congress grilled Facebook.) Anyway, to get back to the review, the United States collects more data than probably any other country in the world. And they love to serve warrants and subpoenas, and those executives you think have your back where privacy rights are concerned? Yeah, they'll give you up for a Snickers bar and a Pepsi.
As to the technical assessment of privacy, I am happy to report that it is quite sterling. The excellent FAQ states the following about leaking IPs:
Hide My IP will protect against IP leaks such as the WebRTC IP leak in Chrome and Firefox. Simply turn on the DNS Protection setting or use the DNS Proxy as mentioned above to prevent the IP leaks. To check if your IP is leaking, please use our IP Leak Check Page.
As for logging, the FAQ says:
We do not keep content logs of your web browsing activity or traffic. Please refer to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for more information about our policies in relation to your use of our products.
Pretty sweet so far. I have no real complaints except the rather unfortunate corporate location in the United States.
Buried at the bottom of the page, what in old time typesetting they used to call the footer, in small font, is the Privacy Statement. I'll do my best to sum it up for you here, but you should look for yourself. Give it a thorough read, as you should on all VPN websites if you are shopping for one. The privacy policy is literally the beating heart of a VPN company.
Cookies? Yeah, but they don't keep them or any personal data on you. They keep your name and email, but only for marketing purposes. And, as I already told you, they don't keep your logs.

How Much is Hide My IP VPN? Is There a Free Trial?

This VPN is reasonably priced at $2.95 a month if you pay as you go, meaning month by month.

You can cancel the monthly plan any time. If you go to their quarterly plan, you pay $8.79 every three months, four times a year, at a rate of $2.93 a month. And finally, they do have an annual payment plan of $34.95, which is $2.91 a month. They seem a little agnostic towards their consumer options. Given the selection, most users would take the monthly plan because of its flexibility, and because there is no real incentive to pay upfront for a longer period. All in all, this is a very reasonable pricing plan for a more than decent VPN, and they also offer a 30-day money back guarantee.
I am happy to report that Hide My IP has entered the realm of enlightened payment like a few of its marketspace peers.
They offer credit/debit payments from your card, PayPal, and a smattering of crypto options: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Alipay, Payza, Paymentwall, Iota. Not too bad at all.

Hide My IP VPN Speed Test

The product has decent speeds, depending on the location, time of day, and other factors. But, as a general rule, it is safe to say that you will have consistent speeds of 20mb or more on the paid service, and somewhat less on the free web browser option. If you try to access locations that are closer to you, the speeds would be significantly better. This is expected, as it’s the case with many VPN providers.

How is Customer Service at Hide My IP VPN?

This VPN has a great customer service, and if you have a question or you are facing a problem, they will be quick to respond. There are more ways to reach them, such as filling an online form, sending them an email or calling them. Unfortunately, their working hours are from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4 pm PST. Their service is not 24/7 which a small disadvantage. However, their FAQ section is very detailed, so if you are in a hurry, you might find the answer you’ve been looking for there.

Features

Look at that functional simplicity. No overuse of color. No splashes of excessive style, the byproduct of junior designers and coders throwing their creative flair into it. It just is what it is. And that's the perfect representation for Hide My IP. It's all the things I just described on the website, which makes it a perfect representation for them. That's good marketing, because, like life itself, you're always better just being what you are rather than pretending to be more, or, even worse, selling yourself short with low self-esteem.
This website is a perfect blend of language and images which convey information very rapidly. I had all my key questions answered in one scroll through the landing page. Check out their location information. They operate in over 120 countries.

Is Hide My IP VPN Safe?

Security is tight. No leaking on the web extension has been reported. However, they do not have a kill switch, which, I am sad to report, is a hole in their service. It's quite surprising that vendors are still operating in this marketspace without kill switches, but Hide My IP is doing just that.

Bottom Line

This is a great VPN for a great price. It's not ridiculously fast, but fast enough, and the only real security drawback is that it has no kill switch. However, for the price and the speed they do provide, you could turn over a lot of stones before you find a better deal than this. It's also very easy to use, making it suitable for beginners.
