Lacking the kill switch option:

This is one of the most important feature in any given VPN. Not having it simply means the company is not serious enough. My anonymity is the reason I pay for your services. Too bad.

Despite the fact that they handled my issues in a timely manner. The main communication tool they offered me is the chat-like app. I also had the honor to use some short information that is similar to an FAQ section. Not bad …

Prices at TigerVPN

I found their prices a bit too high compared to the other VPNs. Considering the fact that they do not offer the kill switch option. I think it is too expensive. Please look into the price issue, make more affordable.

What Is TigerVPN?

TigerVPN is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) located in Slovenia. With an interesting background story, this company has existed for over 7 years. To be honest, we don’t run into many socially conscious VPN providers, but TigerVPN is the perfect example of this. Their name in a way represents the additional work they do, besides providing carefree internet connection to their users. Around 2% of this company’s profit goes to NGOs that care for animals. TigerVPN donates money to animal shelters, it funds adoption ads as well as sterilization programs.
While this is certainly a plus for some potential customers, lets focus on the most important things when searching for a VPN. You should probably ask yourself this: Is TigerVPN really worth your while?

Is My Privacy Protected with tigerVPN?

When searching for a reliable VPN provider, we always put our focus on the privacy policy first. We advise you to do the same thing in order to get the best service possible. So, when it comes to this, you need to make sure that the VPN provider you want to choose doesn’t keep any usage and connection logs.
TigerVPN checks half of the requirements. This VPN does not keep usage logs, which means your browsing will not be compromised. However, it does keep connection logs, and compared with other providers, TigerVPN keepS slightly more information which is a bit disappointing. In their policy, they state the following: “we may collect the following information: dates (not times) when connected to our service, choice of server location, and the total amount of data transferred per day. We store this to be able to deliver the best possible network experience to you”. Needless to say, this is enough to discourage you, even though it states that the information collected couldn’t be used to identify their users.
Furthermore, TigerVPN does not offer a kill switch as well, which deepens the problem with anonymity. Lacking a kill switch as a feature means that in case of an unexpected connection failure, your real IP address will be exposed.
On a more positive note, when it comes to geo-spoofing, TigerVPN is a suitable provider as it offers a large number of servers in many countries all around the world.

How Much is tigerVPN? Is There a Free Trial?

Considering other providers, TigerVPN has a bit over the top prices. Even though the prices and the plans have changed over time, they still are a bit less affordable compared to the usual VPN prices.
TigerVPN currently has three pricing plans, and depending on which one you choose, you will get a different set of features. The monthly subscription is called Zen Tiger, and for $11.99 you will get up to 2 simultaneous connections, but many features are lacking from this offer. The next one is the Hero Tiger, which according to us is the best one. It’s a yearly plan, and with it, you get the best features, including up to 5 simultaneous connections, sticky password premium, and Shimo VPN Manager. The price for this offer is $6.66 which is not that high. The last offer is the 3-year plan which is very cheap, but it’s disappointing that it doesn’t have all the features as the yearly subscription. An interesting fact is that their subscription can be paid in dollars, euros, and pounds, but the number doesn’t change. So you can either pay 11.99 dollars/euros or pounds. It depends on you.
Overall, while the monthly price is expensive, this is a good strategy for TigerVPN to gain long-term customers with the less expensive long-term options. You also get a 7-day refund policy or you can create a 500MB demo account, which is great.
When it comes to paying, you have a variety of choices, from the usual credit card or PayPal option to Bitcoin or License Code.

tigerVPN Speed Test

One of the most difficult things to find in a VPN provider is a great speed. Most of the providers offer decent to low speed, while only a very small portion of VPNs can actually deliver what they promise.
Unfortunately TigerVPN does not fall under the last category, but on the other hand, we were far from disappointed. The speed was above average, but mostly depending on which server you use. Luckily you have over 300 servers at your disposal. Our tests showed that when it comes to downloading and uploading, as well as watching videos in High Definition TigerVPN is not bad at all, keeping speeds at around 30Mbps. However, we do not recommend it for gaming, or if you are not patient enough.

How is Customer Service at tigerVPN?

Although they have a bit limited support, their service is fast, useful and informative.
The main communication tool they offer to their customers is the chat-like app on the bottom-right side of their website. You can ask any kind of question, and you will receive a reply via email or SMS. We needed their service a couple of times, and the reply was very fast, for 5 minutes or less. Most of the time it was very informative, and the staff is very kind.
Besides this, it also provides help by offering detailed guides for installing TigerVPN on all of the applicable devices, a blog, as well as some short information that is similar to an FAQ section.

Features

TigerVPN’s website is playful and funny, that is usually the first impression everyone gets. It’s distinctive and different when compared with other serious websites, but nonetheless, it’s what makes them unique in a way. Besides, everything is neatly sorted out and easy to find. On the top bar, there are only three options: pricing, VPN networks and the Login button. For everything else, you will just have to scroll down.

TigerVPN has different features depending on which plan you subscribe to. So, starting with the number of connections per user, it can vary from 2 to 5. Also, only the yearly subscription offers a sticky password premium for no additional costs. A sticky password premium is a tool that keeps your login credentials and credit card information safe. The other features you get with any kind of subscription are: unlimited data & speed; NAT Firewall; karma rewards program; P2P/Torrenting activity, strong encryption; over 300 servers in 42 countries etc. This provider offers a full DNS control, as well as an SLA monitoring. This means that you can check their performance at any time.
TigerVPN has a 30% rule to always keep bandwidth reserves, meaning if required they will allocate bandwidth and resources.
The VPN is compatible with Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. The software is easy to install and even easier to use. The mobile version of this provider is almost identical to the desktop version and equally easy to use.

Is tigerVPN Safe?

In terms of safety, TigerVPN is a great provider. It offers more protocols that you can choose from. The list includes OpenVPN (TCP & UDP), L2TP/IPSec and PPTP. The protocols are all AES-256-CBC encrypted with a 2048-bit RSA for key exchange.
The combination of OpenVPN with such an encryption means that you will get military-level security. You will be safe from third parties or government agencies. Your online activities will be impossible to track. However, OpenVPN is only available for Windows, Mac, and Android. The preferred protocol for iOS users is the IPSec protocol.
Unfortunately, as mentioned before, TigerVPN does not include a kill switch in its features, therefore this provider does not get the highest grade from us. Hopefully, changes will be made in the near future.

Bottom Line

TigerVPN is secure, relatively fast and reliable Virtual Private Network provider. The fact that it is also socially conscious just makes it more attractive to some customers. Although there isn’t much that differentiates it from other providers, except maybe their website design, it still is a decent provider.
We definitely recommend TigerVPN although this provider might not satisfy every user’s needs. If you are looking for a secure provider, with a nicely positioned network of servers TigerVPN is the choice. But if your main requirement is super speed, then you might want to search for another VPN provider.
